Description

Been up at our place in Overgaard for a little over a week now.  This is new moon time for this month and I brought my Redcat 51 setup with me.  I was looking for a target that I could image over a number of clear nights and the Iris Nebula looked to fit that bill nicely.  I've seen others image this object and I will be honest, once I finished my pass I was a bit surprised of my results compared to others I've see.  Most of the other images I've seen others take (On FB, not here in Astrobin) have been details of the central core, usually way over saturated and no details of the dark lanes and nebulosity surrounding this object.  I used my ASI294MM in bin 1 mode on my Luminance and with the Bortle 1 skies of Overgaard I was blown away by both the shear number of stars in the field of view but the significant gas and dust clouds in the area.  My trusty Redcat 51 came through again I think and I'm really liking this ASI294 with the very small pixel (2.3um) bin 1 mode.  It keeps my images from being under sampled due to the large FOV of my Redcat.

I did take a series of OIII and Ha subs but I did not incorporate them yet in this image.  I've got to read up on how to do that best.  What I have here is pretty much a standard LRGB workflow in PI with some, but very little, Photoshop work.
